Biography:  Taher completed his Bachelor of Science (2006) and Master of Science (2008) from the department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Dhaka.  He joined the immunology lab with Dr. Firdausi Qadri at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) in 2006, and continued his research on cholera and other infectious diseases focused on the immunological responses in the patients and vaccinees.  He started his PhD with Professor Geoffrey Ian McFadden at the University of Melbourne at 2013, where he investigated the proteome from Plasmodium falciparum apicoplast to find new drug targets and validated the targets of presumed apicoplast targeting drugs.  He joined Discovery Biology as a Research Fellow with Professor Vicky Avery in January 2018.
