Congratulations to Professor Vicky Avery for being recognised as one of the ‘Field Leaders’ in The Australian’s 2020 Research supplement in Medicinal Chemistry. One Researcher was selected from each of the 17 fields who had the highest number of citations from papers published in the last five years in the 20 top journals in their field. Established in 2008, Therapeutic Innovation Australia (TIA) is the lead agent for the NCRIS “Translating Health Discoveries” project funded by the Australian Department of Education, Skills and Employment. ​TIA invests in people and equipment at national facilities to enable and accelerate translation of health discoveries from the lab to clinical application. Congratulations to Dr Thilini Perera, awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy on the 12th August 2020. Her thesis was entitled ‘Targeting Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) in Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC)’.  

Congratulations to Aaron Lock and Bilal Zulfiqar who were both awarded a RICE award (celebrating GRIDD values of Respect, Integrity, Collegiality and Excellence) for their contribution to the organisation and function of Discovery Biology during COVID19. They both worked above and beyond their normal duties, working collaboratively to support research and technical activities in the lab.
