MRFF funding to develop drugs to treat schizophrenia

Griffith researchers  Dr. Alex Cristino, Professor Emeritus Alan Mackay-Sim, and  Professor Vicky Avery – Head of Discovery Biology have been awarded $1,425,156.50 from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) to develop new drugs to treat schizophrenia using patient derived stem cells.

Professor Vicky Avery’s team will develop new image based assays to screen FDA-approved drugs against patient stem cell lines, with the objective to find those that restore cellular functions back to normal. For more information click here.
