Travel awards success

Several Discovery Biology students have been granted travel awards to attend conferences in 2012. Thanks to the Cancer Council of Queensland, Carrie Lovitt will be attending the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois. Debra Kiss was awarded both an Eskitis RHD and Griffith Graduate Research School conference travel awards to attend the Advances in Prostate Cancer Research Conference, to be held in Orlando, USA in February.

Discovery Biology Website Wins Award

At the weekend, the Discovery Biology Website won the ‘Best Medium Website Award’ at the 2011 Queensland Multimedia Awards, held in Cairns. The award was based on creativity, design, usability and content across the site. Congratulations and thanks therefore have to go to the website developer, Lee Olsen of Shiftrefresh.com.au for his outstanding design and creativity, Robin Foster of Foster Photography for the images and the entire Discovery Biology team for their input into the website content.

ASP Travel Award Success

Melissa Sykes has been awarded an Australian Society for Parasitology Student Conference Travel Grant. Melissa will be presenting a poster at the 2011 ASP Annual Conference, 10-13 July in Cairns, Queensland.

Carrie Lovitt was awarded second prize for her poster on 3D models of breast cancer at the annual Australian Society for Medical Research student symposium day.
